Many of us in Georgia just got our 2026 property tax assessments and the increases are significant. In my case, the valuation on our house in Cobb County jumped 20%.
I also started receiving letters from companies offering to handle the appeal for me for 35% of any tax savings they achieve.
A few years ago I went through this process the old-fashioned way manually pulling comps from Zillow, adjusting for square footage differences, building a spreadsheet, and drafting the appeal letter. It worked, but it took real time and effort.
This year I decided to live the AI first mindset and build something better using Claude. In a short exercise I created a custom Claude Skill essentially a reusable, step-by-step workflow that does the heavy lifting for you:
-It found the process, forms, and recommended the type of appeal based on my data
-Pulls and analyzes data on my house from public records and recent comparable sales in the neighborhood (with proper size and feature adjustments)
-Identifies potential record errors or uniformity issues-Calculates a realistic target value
-Drafts the official appeal form fields, a spreadsheet with detailed valuation evidence, and a professional letter to the Cobb County Board of Tax Assessors (redacted version is image)
I reviewed the output, made a couple of tweaks to the letter wording, and submitted a strong, well-documented appeal yesterday. The whole process was dramatically faster and more thorough than doing it manually.
What I’m most excited about is how easily this can help neighbors who aren’t familiar with the appeal process or don’t have time to dig through public records. The Skill is repeatable so I can share the approach (or even the workflow itself) with others in the area.
This is a small but real example of what’s possible right now with AI: taking a painful, time-consuming personal task and turning it into something faster, smarter, and more accessible.
At Workfast Consulting, we help organizations cut through the AI hype and find practical ways to apply these tools to real business and operational challenges delivering measurable value instead of just chasing the next shiny trend.
Note: if you’re in Cobb County and received a big assessment increase this year, shoot me a note. I’m happy to share the Claude Skill and perhaps walk you through how to use it.
Have you received a big assessment increase this year? Or used AI to help with time intensive tasks like this in life or work? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
